Traditionally integrated circuits are reversed engineered by imaging transistors and analyzing their structure to determine logic function. Instead, this talk explores correlating infrared emissions to logic functions. While traditionally prohibitively expensive, relatively low cost techniques are presented to make this more approachable to a typical lab. Related technologies such as backside analysis and backthinning are also discussed.
