Hacking NAND Memory Pinout using Logic Analyzer.

Abstract:

This presentation is about analysis of technological pinout of NAND memory in such devices as microSD, eMMC and other monolithic chips using a logic analyzer. By analyzing and interpreting the signals exchanged between the NAND flash memory and its controller, we demonstrate techniques for reverse-engineering communication protocols. This approach is particularly valuable for security researchers and forensic investigators aiming to recover data from NAND flash memory.

Sasha Sheremetov is the CTO of Rusolut. With more than 14 years of experience in the flash memory data recovery and chip-off digital forensics. Since 2013 leading R∧D team at Rusolut. In 2017 developed new technique to extract data from eMMC chips through NAND interface.
